Psalms 129:1
Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:

Explanation

The psalm remembers Israel's afflictions: They have greatly oppressed me since my youth, let Israel now say. The people faced repeated persecution throughout their history. Even so, the psalm celebrates perseverance: the plow of the righteous prevails. Today, this verse reminds us that repeated trials do not mean defeat. The Lord cuts the ropes of the wicked that bind his own. Struggles may mark us, but they do not define the future of God's people. The perseverance of the righteous is born of the Lord's faithfulness. May we remember past deliverances to face present challenges.
