In the middle of Joseph's story, the chapter tells of Judah's fall and his daughter-in-law Tamar. Judah, deceived by her, acknowledges the truth and declares: she hath been more righteous than I. The verse records that moment of rare honesty. Judah did not look for excuses; he admitted that Tamar had been more righteous than he was. Sincere confession opened space for God's mercy in his life. Despite the mistakes, Judah's lineage continued, and from it the Messiah would be born. The text shows that grace reaches people full of faults and that acknowledging our error is the beginning of change. Today we are invited to practice the honesty of recognizing our failures. Admitting our mistake is the path to maturity. God's mercy reaches those who confess.
