Isaiah 22:22
“And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.”

Explanation
Isaiah chapter 22 is an oracle about the valley of vision, that is, Jerusalem, and denounces the self-confidence of a people who celebrated instead of repenting. In the middle of judgment, God promises to replace the unfaithful steward with Eliakim, a faithful servant. Verse 22 speaks of the key of the house of David placed upon his shoulders, with power to open and shut. This image of authority points to Jesus, the faithful servant par excellence, who holds the key of God's kingdom. What he opens no one shuts, and what he shuts no one opens. Today we can entrust our lives to that perfect steward, who governs with faithfulness.
