Explanation
In this psalm of supplication, David cries for help and ends with a confident praise. Verse 7 affirms: the Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I was helped. Strength speaks of the power to overcome; shield, of protection against attacks. David trusted, and the Lord answered; praise is born from the experience of divine care. The sequence matters: trust produces deliverance, and deliverance produces gratitude. Many times we are tempted to doubt before the answer, but David teaches us to persevere in trust. Today we can remember the times God helped us. Every deliverance is a reason for a new song.
