Psalms 4:8 — Sunday, January 4, 2026

Psalm 4 is a night prayer composed in the midst of distress, possibly during David's flight. The psalmist answers those who mock his faith with a serene confidence. In the end he declares that he can lie down and sleep in peace because the Lord alone makes him dwell in safety. True peace does not depend on circumstances but on the certainty that God keeps us. Many sleepless nights grow out of the anxiety and fear we cultivate during the day. This verse invites us to hand every worry over to God before sleeping, trusting that he sustains us. The security the world cannot give, God offers generously to his children.
