David writes this psalm in the morning, presenting his prayer to the Lord like one who offers a sacrifice on the altar. He speaks of rising early to cry out and waiting for an answer. Daily prayer is not an empty ritual but an encounter with the God who hears and acts. David does not only speak; he also listens and waits, for faith expresses itself in patient expectation. Beginning the day by presenting our plans, fears, and desires to God changes how we see everything we face. This morning we can renew that habit, placing the Lord before every task. Whoever prays with expectation discovers that God truly hears the voice of their cry.
