Isaiah chapter 52 announces the good news of Zion's deliverance and prepares the way for the suffering servant of the next chapter. Verse 7 celebrates the arrival of the one who brings good news of peace and salvation: how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings. The image is striking: the messenger who crosses the mountains is received as a gift, because his words restore hope. The good news is that God reigns, that his rule is one of peace, and that he saves his people. The apostle Paul uses this same text to speak of those who preach the gospel. Today, each of us can be a carrier of that good news at home, at work, and in the community. Announcing God's peace is a mission with beautiful feet and a joyful heart.
