Matthew 14:27
“But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.”

Explanation

In chapter 14, Jesus feeds more than five thousand people and, afterwards, walks on the sea. The disciples, frightened by the figure approaching them, think it is a ghost. Jesus' first word is a call to courage and a revelation of who he is. Knowing that it is the Lord drawing near completely changes how we read the situation. In our difficult nights, when fear takes over, he draws near with the same word. We do not need to be afraid, for the Lord is present in the middle of the storm.
