Explanation

Psalm 34 was written by David when he escaped by feigning madness before Abimelech. In it, the psalmist invites everyone to taste God's goodness. Verse 8 says: O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in him. Tasting involves experience, not just hearing about it. God's goodness is not a theory; it is something we come to know up close. David invites everyone because he himself tasted that goodness in the midst of danger. Faith grows when we experience the Lord's care. Today we are invited to trust and to know God in practice. Whoever takes refuge in the Lord discovers that he is good.
