Psalm 75 is a hymn of gratitude and an affirmation of divine justice. Verse 1 declares: to you, O God, do we give thanks; we give thanks, for your name is near; your wonderful works declare it. Gratitude is the right response to God's revealed character. The name of the Lord is near, which means he is neither distant nor indifferent. His wonders testify to his faithfulness. David and the people recognize that every blessing comes from God. In this psalm, we are invited to look back and give thanks. Every deliverance, every provision, and every comfort are wonders of the Lord. Today we can offer God a sincere praise full of gratitude. His name is near to us at all times.
