Psalms 83:1
Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

Explanation

The psalm is a prayer in the face of nations that conspire against God's people. The verse opens with an urgent cry: O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof. The psalmist does not trust in weapons but in divine intervention. The honesty of the prayer shows that God welcomes the sincere cries of his people. Today, when we feel surrounded by adversity, we can present our distress to God openly. God's apparent silence does not mean abandonment but an invitation to persevere in prayer. This verse teaches us that confident crying reaches the throne of the Most High.
