Explanation
Psalm 63 was written by David in the wilderness of Judah, thirsty and hiding from his enemies. Verse 1 is an ardent prayer: O God, you are my God; early will I seek you. My soul thirsts for you. Even in dry land, David finds in God the water that satisfies. The search for God is not occasional; it is a thirst that awakens with the morning. David realized that the physical desert revealed a deeper thirst: the need for God's presence. When we go through our own deserts, that thirst leads us to meet the Lord. Seeking God early is placing the best of our time before him. The Lord's presence is better than life. Only he satisfies the soul.
