The psalm opens with a commitment of praise: Praise the Lord. I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. It is an acrostic song that celebrates God's works. The psalmist declares that praise involves both the heart and the community. Today, this verse reminds us that worship is personal and communal at the same time. Praising God with all our heart means giving him everything we are. In the congregation, praise becomes testimony and mutual edification. The Lord's works deserve to be celebrated in every generation.
