The psalm opens with a call to praise: Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord. It is an invitation that is repeated to reinforce the urgency of worship. The psalm exalts the greatness of God, who stoops down to care for the humble. Today, this verse calls us to begin praise with who God is. The servants of the Lord know that worship is a privilege and a duty. The name of the Lord is worthy of being exalted throughout the earth. When praise springs from grateful hearts, God's presence is felt among us.
