Psalms 123:1 — Sunday, May 3, 2026

The psalm is a pilgrim's plea: I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven. It is a posture of total dependence on God. The psalmist compares the people's trust to that of servants waiting for their master's attention. Today, this verse teaches us to look up in the midst of difficulties. Lifting our eyes to heaven is recognizing that our help comes from God. In a world that presses us from all sides, prayer is our strength. Waiting on the Lord with patience is not passivity but active trust. The mercy of the Most High reaches those who seek him.
