Jacob works seven years for Rachel, but he is deceived and given Leah. Even so, he agrees to serve another seven years for the woman he loved. The verse says that the seven years seemed to Jacob but a few days, for the love he had to her. True love turns time and effort into joy. The text also shows that love is patient: Jacob did not give up in the face of deceit and delay. There is a lesson about investing in what we love without rushing results. Love that endures time is stronger than love that only wants immediate pleasure. Today we are invited to cultivate relationships with patience and dedication. Serving those we love is never wasted time.
