“I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”

Explanation
After the flood, God establishes a covenant with Noah and with all creation. The rainbow is the visible sign of that promise: God would never again destroy the earth by water. The sign appears in the clouds, exactly where storms form; in the middle of danger, God places the reminder of his mercy. The covenant reaches the whole earth, showing God's care for creation. The bow is grace: a promise given without humanity deserving it. Today every rainbow can remind us that God keeps what he promises. In the middle of life's storms, we can trust in his faithfulness. God's mercy is renewed in every generation.
