Isaiah 4:2 — Sunday, August 23, 2026

Isaiah chapter 4 is short and stands in contrast to the judgment of the previous chapter: after the purification, a remnant remains. In that day the branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, an image that Christian tradition understands as the Messiah. The promise that the fruit of the land will be excellent points to the complete restoration God prepares for his people. The cleansing happens through fire and washing, signs of holiness and of a new beginning. This remnant depends entirely on God's grace, not on its own merits. Today we are invited to trust that, even in hard days, God preserves a path of hope.
