After the episode of violence against Dinah, Simeon and Levi react with fury and kill the men of the city. Jacob, fearing the reaction of the neighboring peoples, complains that they have put him in danger. The verse shows the weight of the consequences: unresolved anger can destroy more than the original problem. The sons used God's name to justify vengeance, but vengeance never builds justice. The chapter is a warning about what happens when anger grows out of control. Dinah's pain was real, but the violent response multiplied the suffering. Today we are invited to watch our reactions in the face of injustice. Anger must be handed over to God, not fed. Vengeance charges a price that never returns what was lost.
