Genesis 33:4 — Sunday, August 2, 2026

Jacob fears the meeting with Esau, but God changed his brother's heart. The verse describes the most moving scene of the chapter: Esau ran to meet Jacob, embraced him, fell on his neck, kissed him, and they wept together. Twenty years of separation, resentment, and threats of vengeance ended in reconciliation. Only God's grace explains such a transformation. Jacob arrived humble, calling Esau lord; Esau arrived with a forgiving heart. The reunion shows that sincere repentance and the pursuit of peace open doors that seemed closed. Today we are invited to seek peace with those who have hurt us or whom we have hurt. Running toward the other with forgiveness changes lives. God turns enmity into an embrace.
