Explanation
Isaiah chapter 28 brings a hard warning to the leaders of Ephraim and Jerusalem, drunk with self-sufficiency and mocking the prophet's words. In contrast, verse 16 announces a sure foundation: God will lay in Zion a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a firm base for those who believe. That stone is the Messiah himself, the rock on which God builds his people. The one who believes will not be in haste, that is, he does not need to run after false solutions because he has a place to rest his life. Trust in God frees us from the anxiety of alliances and shortcuts. Today we are invited to build our lives on that stone which never moves.
