Isaiah chapter 35 is one of the most beautiful passages in the book, a song of restoration after the desert of judgment. The prophet sees the desert blossom and the highway of holiness open for the redeemed people. Verse 10 portrays the ransomed of the Lord arriving in Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads. Sorrow and sighing will flee, giving way to a joy no one can remove. This promise comforted the exiles and finds full fulfillment in the redemption Christ won. Today, even in the desert of our lives, there is a holy way prepared for us. The joy of the Lord is the strength of those who walk toward him.
