Isaiah chapter 39 shows the human side of Hezekiah, who showed the Babylonian visitors all the treasures of the palace. The prophet Isaiah then announces that all of it would be carried off to Babylon. Hezekiah's response is humble and submissive: good is the word of the Lord that you have spoken. He accepts God's will and even acknowledges that in his days there would be peace and security. This attitude teaches us to receive God's will with confidence, even when it is not what we expected. Hezekiah did not argue or despair; he surrendered to what God had decided. Today we can learn to accept God's plans, sure that he knows what is best.
