Isaiah chapter 20 tells of one of the strangest acts of the prophets: by God's command, Isaiah walked naked and barefoot for three years as a sign against Egypt and Ethiopia. The message was hard: trust in military alliances would end in shame and plunder. The prophet lived in his own body the reality the people stubbornly refused to see. This gesture shows that God's preaching is not only word but also life, surrender, and radical obedience. Sometimes the Lord calls us to give witness through sacrifices others do not understand. Today we are invited to examine in whom we are placing our security.
