Explanation

Isaiah chapter 19 begins with judgment upon Egypt, the nation in which Judah so often trusted, but ends with a surprising promise of blessing. Verse 25 reveals God's inclusive plan: Egypt will be called my people, Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance. The ancient enemies and oppressors of Israel are welcomed into the same divine family. This vision anticipates the gospel, which breaks down barriers between peoples and calls everyone into relationship with God. No nation or person is beyond the reach of grace. Today we are reminded that God's heart is bigger than any human rivalry.
