Psalms 6:9
The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.

Explanation

Psalm 6 is one of the penitential psalms; David cries for mercy in the midst of suffering and a sense of guilt. In verse 9, however, there is a turning point: lament gives way to certainty. David affirms that the Lord has heard his supplication and will receive his prayer. This movement is a picture of faith: those who weep before God do not stay in anguish forever but find comfort. Sincere prayer turns weeping into trust. Many times we carry pains that seem to have no way out, but the God who heard David also hears our hearts. Today we can present our grief to him, certain that he receives us and answers.
