Chapter 11 shows John the Baptist sending disciples to confirm who Jesus was, and Jesus responding with an invitation. After condemning the cities that did not repent, he turns to the weary and oppressed. The invitation is for all who carry the weight of expectations, guilt and pain. Jesus does not promise a life without work, but he promises an easy yoke and rest for the soul. The rest he offers springs from trust in him, not from self-effort. Here we find welcome, without needing to deserve it.
