Psalms 56:3
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”

Explanation
Psalm 56 was written when David was in the hands of the Philistines, feeling fear up close. Verse 3 is a short and powerful confession: when I am afraid, I will trust in you. David does not deny fear; he acknowledges it and, in the same moment, chooses to trust. Faith is not the absence of fear; it is the decision not to let it dominate us. Trusting in God turns fear into hope. This prayer can be repeated in any frightening circumstance: when fear comes, I will trust. David understood that trust is the right response to terror. Today, facing bad news, illness, or uncertainty, we can make fear a trigger for prayer. Trust in God is stronger than fear.
