Psalm 58 is an imprecatory prayer against corrupt judges who twist justice. David describes the wickedness of those who turn from the truth and asks God to intervene. Verse 11 closes with a certainty: so that men shall say, truly there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges in the earth. Corruption may seem victorious, but the psalmist affirms that God sees and judges. Divine justice gives hope to the oppressed and warns the oppressors. When injustice wounds us, we can remember that there is a God who judges rightly. The reward of the righteous may delay, but it does not fail. Today we can trust that no evil escapes God's sight. True justice comes from heaven.
