Explanation
Psalm 37 is an acrostic that deals with the problem of the prosperity of the wicked. In it, David teaches that the righteous should not fret or envy evildoers. Verse 5 brings the central counsel: commit your way to the Lord; trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass. Committing our way means letting go of the anxiety of controlling everything and letting God act. Trust here is not vague; it is a practical decision to follow the divine will. Whoever commits his way to the Lord discovers that he acts at the right time. Instead of competing with the wicked, we can focus on obeying and waiting. God cares for his own with faithfulness.
