Explanation

Psalm 69 begins with a deep cry of anguish: the waters have risen up to my soul. David describes persecution, insult, and pain. But verse 30 brings a turning point: I will praise the name of God with a song and magnify him with thanksgiving. Even in the middle of suffering, David chooses praise. The psalm is one of the most quoted in the New Testament in reference to Christ's sufferings. Praising in the middle of pain is not ignoring reality; it is declaring trust in God. Singing and gratitude make room for hope. When we go through deep waters, we can follow the psalmist's example. Magnifying God with thanksgiving renews the soul. Praise is stronger than pain.
