Psalm 70 is a short and urgent prayer, repeating David's cry for deliverance. Verse 5 concludes: but I am poor and needy; make haste to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay. David recognizes himself as poor and needy, totally dependent on God. That humility is not shame; it is the door of grace. When the need is urgent, prayer becomes a cry: make haste, Lord. God is help and deliverer for those who call on him sincerely. Today we can bring our urgent needs to him with the same confidence. Recognizing our need does not weaken us; it draws us closer to God. He does not delay for those who wait on him.
