Psalm 67 is a prayer of blessing that echoes the priestly blessing in the book of Numbers. Verse 1 asks: God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause his face to shine upon us. David asks the blessing not only for himself but so that God's ways may be known on the earth. The blessing received has a greater purpose: testimony and worship among the nations. Being blessed is not an end in itself; it is a means for the Lord's name to be praised. The joy and gratitude of the blessed draw others to God. Today we can ask for the divine blessing with an overflowing heart, wanting it to reach others. May his face shine upon us for his glory. The blessing received becomes a seed of blessing.
