Proverbs 2:6 — Monday, June 1, 2026

Here Solomon reveals the true source of all wisdom. In the previous chapter he taught that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; now he shows that wisdom is a gift from God. It is not only the result of intellectual effort, though Proverbs insists we should seek it. The phrase out of his mouth reminds us that God's Word is the channel of our understanding. The wise person is one who stands before the Lord in humility, attentive to his voice. For us, this means valuing the Bible and asking God to direct our choices. Wisdom is a gift received in prayer.
