The difference is not in never stumbling but in getting up: he falls seven times and rises again. The number seven suggests many falls, and yet perseverance wins. The wicked, by contrast, stumble in adversity and find no strength to rise. The strength of the righteous comes from God's grace, which lifts up the humble. This text is a comfort to those going through failures and fresh starts. Today we are encouraged not to give up in the face of falls. Every new beginning with God is a victory of faith.
