This verse echoes the great motto of Proverbs and deepens it. Solomon completes the thought by saying that knowing the Holy One is understanding. Here wisdom is not a technique for living but the fruit of a relationship with God. The Holy One is the title that underlines the difference between God and his creatures. Knowing him transforms the way we see everything, and wisdom begins when we recognize who God is. Without that foundation, human knowledge remains rootless and without direction. Today the verse reminds us that study and effort alone are not enough. True understanding is born from reverence for God.
