Genesis 15:6
“And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”

Explanation
God promises Abram a numerous offspring like the stars of heaven, and the patriarch responds with faith. This verse is one of the most important in the Old Testament: Abram believed the LORD, and it was counted to him as righteousness. Righteousness did not come through works but through trust in God's promise. Paul would use these words to explain that salvation is by faith, not by merit. Abram could not yet see the fulfillment, but he trusted the One who promises. Faith is not a vague feeling but firm confidence in God's faithfulness. Today we are invited to believe God's promises even without seeing them. Faith is the foundation of the Christian life.
