Explanation
In Gerar, Abraham repeats the mistake of saying that Sarah was his sister, and Abimelech takes Sarah without knowing the truth. God appears to the king in a dream and reveals the plan, saying that he acted with integrity of heart. The verse shows God's grace recognizing the sincere conscience of one who did not know what he was doing. God does not treat Abimelech as guilty, because his heart was clean in that matter. This teaches that God evaluates the intentions of every person and that his justice is perfect. It also reminds us that our weaknesses do not cancel God's plans. Today we are invited to trust in God's merciful justice. He knows the heart and judges with truth. Integrity is a value he honors.
