Isaiah 11:9 — Sunday, August 30, 2026

Isaiah chapter 11 presents the shoot coming from the stump of Jesse, an ideal king filled with the Spirit of the Lord, a clear symbol of the Messiah for Christians. This king will judge with justice, and his coming will transform all creation, bringing harmony even to the animal world. Verse 9 summarizes the vision: no harm and no destruction on the holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord. When the fear and love of God govern the heart, violence loses ground. This hope points to the day when God will restore everything. Today we can begin that transformation by letting the knowledge of God shape us from within.
